​Price

Puppies are $4000 Canadian (plus tax) which includes:

  • Weekly comprehensive email updates with information about the transition home, details about puppy development, and descriptions of the puppies in the litter
  • Hillmeadow book on raising and training a puppy
  • Regular video and picture updates posted on our Facebook and Instagram
  • Two veterinary health checks
  • Comprehensive health testing of all parent dogs
  • Health certificate
  • Microchip insertion and registration
  • Initial vaccinations
  • Deworming 
  • Fecal evaluation
  • Revolution treatment as appropriate​
  • Early neurological stimulation
  • Early scent programme
  • Initial potty training (including regular trips outside every hour during the day. Puppies have almost no accidents in our care the week before going home) 
  • Introduction to crating (puppies will be sleeping from 10pm-5am through the the night in a closed crate the week before going home and 1-2 hours during the day)
  • Positive introduction of puppies to grooming including nail trims, ear cleaning, hair trims, bathing, and clippers.
  • Early puppy socialization activities (including car rides, exposure to young children, meeting other dogs, and off leash adventure walks)​
  • One on one time is spent with each individual puppy each day in our house so that they can gently gain independence from their litter and are prepared for going home​
  • Puppy package including a blanket, toy, and collar of your choice
  • Registration with the Master Dog Breeders and Associates
  • ​30 days Trupanion Pet Insurance​

​Payments are receivable by cash, bank transfer, or e-transfer. Any charges for transfers will be added to the final balance due for your puppy. All methods of payment will have taxes applied and reflected in the receipt of purchase.

We do offer one-on-one puppy boarding for additional socialization & training following the Baxter & Bella programme, or can recommend trainers that offer puppy imprint training. Boarding must be arranged in advance. Please email us for more details.

​Estimated Costs of Breeding and Raising Australian Cobberdog Puppies:
​
  • Health testing costs for breeding dogs: OFA and/or PennHip hip and elbow testing ($650-1300), OFA eye exam ($150/year), DNA screening (>$300), OFA Patellas ($75), OFA Dentition ($75), OFA Cardiac Assessment ($75)
  • Brucellosis test for natural breeding ($200-400/breeding)
  • Progesterone testing ($500-1500/breeding).
  • Ultrasound and/or X-rays to confirm pregnancy (>$500)
  • Stud Fee:  >$4000 if using Stud owned by another breeder
  • Cost of reproductive veterinary evaluation for breeding soundness ($200/breeding) 
  • Cost of reproductive veterinary insemination ($900-1800) 
  • Cost of purchasing breeding dog: >$15 000 CAN + shipping and duty fees
  • Grooming, feeding, training, and veterinary costs for each parent dog per year 
  • Whelping materials
  • Puppy supplies ($1000+ per litter: puppy pee-pads, toys, treats, chews, puppy pens, flooring, crates, bedding)
  • Puppy health: milk replacer and bottles, de-wormer, probiotics, puppy food for mom and puppies 
  • Puppy Vaccination and Wellness Exam ($100 per puppy)
  • Puppy Package ($50 per puppy)
  • Gift package for momma dog for each litter 
  • Spay/neuter of retired breeding dogs ($600)
  • Microchip ($75 per puppy)
  • Registration fees to register litter ($300 average per litter)
  • Annual membership fees for MDBA
  • Cost of electricity to keep puppies warm or cool 
  • House upkeep (the amount of maintenance needed when sharing our home with our canine crew is considerable)
  • Mileage
  • Cleaning supplies 
  • Accountant and book-keeping fees
  • Continuing education (books, courses, workshops)
  • Administration fees (website fees, office supplies, printer supplies, Quickbooks subscription, Microsoft subscription, Lightroom subscription, etc.)
  • Potential emergency/unexpected costs:  female dog could require c-section or develop conditions such as mastitis, eclampsia, or pyometra; potential for vet visits for sick or injured puppies or dogs.

**Please note that the estimated costs do not include our time. When we have puppies there is someone home 7 days a week, 24 hours a day to watch the puppies and the dogs which often means we miss out on special times with family & friends (including holidays). We also spend a considerable amount of time in year-round administration, education, and correspondence with families which averages to several hours every day.**
